How to Incorporate Cleansing As Part of a Raw Food Lifestyle
It’s common knowledge that I don’t eat a 100% raw food diet. But yet, raw foods form an important backbone of my diet.
Some people think it has to be black and white… all or nothing. Either you’re “raw” or you’re not. But in reality, the most successful way to incorporate raw foods as part of your life is to:
1) Eat a large percentage of your diet as raw plant foods (depending on the individual, that can be from 30 to 80%. In rare cases, 100%).
2) Use raw foods as a great “detox” or cleansing diet, especially raw green foods.
The truth is that a 100% raw food diet is a great cleansing or detox diet. It’s not often appropriate for most people to eat 100% raw for the rest of their lives, but it can work wonders in the short-term.
It’s a very useful “reset” button you can press once in a while to get your body working great.
That’s few times a year, usually at the change of seasons,I recommend to go on a cleanse, especially if you’ve fallen off the wagon with your healthful living lifestyle.
Even if you think that your diet is great, you probably sometimes neglect onsome aspects of your health, such as sleep, stress, or exercise. You’re also exposed to some dose of environmental pollution, often without being aware of it.
Or maybe you have some habits you’d like to break, like caffeine (my personal nemesis) or some habits you’d like to take on (like having big green smoothies every day).
That’s where a raw food cleanse can be useful. Especially a green cleanse that emphasizes vegetables.
So how often should you cleanse? In my experience, the body needs a cleanse about four times per year.
This cleanse can be anywhere from 3 to 10 days, although most people do best with a 5 to 7 day cleanse.
When was the last time you cleansed?
Our next green cleanse starts in less than two weeks, on May 13th! (With preparation material sent the week before)
