Rediscover your roots.
Specifically garlic, ginger and turmeric. All three of these spicy roots are time tested and revered microbe killers; having strong antibacterial properties. They are also potent antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. Research being done on turmeric is showing great promise with regards to fighting cancer as well. They are all available in capsule form, for the timid taste buds, but best when fresh and juiced or cooked into a meal. Most curry dishes will contain all 3 of these spices. I attribute a spicy soup eaten 3 days in a row consisting of leafy greens, fresh ginger, fresh garlic and fresh turmeric with helping fight off the last cold I felt attempting to attack me.
The Almighty Omega 3’s. Even traditional, mainstream physicians now are singing the praises of these wonderful fatty acids. They are vital to overall health and a dietary necessity, since the body cannot produce them on it’s own. There has been a lot of research on Omega 3’s that link it to reduction in inflammation (including asthma symptoms), heart disease, depression and colon cancer. DHA, a type of omega 3, is also noted with improving brain function; memory, etc. Key (plant) sources of Omega 3’s include flax seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, green leafy vegetables and marine algae.
