Milk & Non-Hodgkin’ s Lymphoma

On Augst 11, 2010, the newswires reported a story about the President of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, and his recently diagnosed case of non-Hodgkin’ s lymphoma.

Within a few days, dairy industry marketing genuises were promoting their position that non-Hodgkins lymphoma was caused by a shortage of Vitamin D…

A few years ago, a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, (March 1, 2004; Volume 159, Issue 5 454-466) revealed a link between dairy and meat consumption and non-Hodgkin’ s lymphoma.

Yale University scientists showed that people who eat diets that are rich in fiber (tomatoes, broccoli, mixed lettuce salad with vegetables) developed low rates of lymphatic cancer, while those consuming the standard American diet, rich in dairy and meat, compromised their immunity and were more susceptable to developing lymphomas.

The 7-year study was conducted on 1,318 Connecticut women.
