Action in -action
“Man is born to act. To act is to affirm the worth of an end, and to affirm the worth of an end is to create an ideal”. –Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes–
Existence is a strange bargain. Life owes us little; we owe it everything. true happiness comes from squandering ourselves for a purpose. What is our purpose, why are we here, questions asked by each one of us at one time or another. Speaking to a group not long ago I asked, “what is our purpose in life”? I enjoy participation at all my seminars and open talk lectures. There were quite a few who replied with opinions, each very insightful. After some discussion I responded by stating my opinion, “to enjoy each day to its fullest”. Everyone liked the thought, I liked all the thoughts that were shared. One of the comments was, “to find and support love and peace in the world”, I felt that one close to my heart. I also thought of PEACE as something that is not handed down from one generation to the next as LOVE is not something that is as simple as it may seem. We often seem to think that both peace and love are our right of life. Actually they are rewards for the actions we take in life.
The peace we strive so hard for in our world today is as hard to find as it has been since mans first attempt at being the soul representative of our creators thought, man as a ruler of man. Through one ego we continue to create war, often to bring peace, conquering one another while living side by side as nations, families, and societies on the street we say is paved with love. This becomes an un-truth when selfishness, ignoble ambition, prejudice, and a willingness to profit at the expense of our neighbor is the road we travel, we are on it today. “To enjoy each day to its fullest” seems more each day a privilege for those who see themselves the “Elite”, the so-called leaders of the world we all live in. A world supported by leadership that continues to fail at not only the highest, also the lowest levels of our societies. When will “We the People”, stand and say enough? Truth is that the world will twist a turn in the dispar and suffering we have become so accustomed to until that day comes.
When all nations, families, societies, and people gear themselves to better, truer principles of living, peace will no longer be a problem. It as the love we hope for will suddenly be among us, as by its own accord. Achieving such a grand goal will require ACTION, not by those disguised as leaders, but by each one of us together as a family of man and women. “We the People, in order to form a more perfect Union” are the center of it all. We are the consumer, sold by the few to consume for no more than to consume in a society that consumes the consumer, such is the madness of what may be tomorrows society of “Corporatism”.
A pitiful truth is the people who in their living elect to be spectators rather than participants. The tragic ones are those sightseers who turn their backs deliberately on the procession. For to long “We the People” have allowed the freedom of living to be sold, bought, or simply destroyed by those who would control and demand the world conform to a “New World Order”.
T.V Soong, China’s delegate to the United Nations Conference in San Francisco many years ago stated, “If there is any message that China wishes to give, it is that we are prepared to yield if necessary a part of our sovereignty to the new international organization; in the interest of collective security”. Is collective security no more than the myth our leaders deploy for no more than the corporatism that is closer than we think? Sovereignty to a truth far greater than our “New World Order” is essential for security, peace, prosperity, and liberty. If anything has been achieved from our current leadership today is the crises our world is in as nations, corporations, political, and social. Could corporatism be the bigger picture of our conformed security that is not secure for any but the few on top? To conquer man and his society has always been easy for the devious, the tyrant, the dictator, and the egomaniac. To conquer the human spirit has until today proved un-successful. Are we today at a frightening cross-road of “free to be me”, or conform to “what you will become”? Last time I looked into a mirror I saw a human being, not a “Human resource. Are those who feel they are entitled to it all to be successful in de-sensitizing us from the “True You” we were created to be?
Wars are every where, famine and starvation, homelessness seem to be on the increase. The Chinese crises, the Indian crisis, the Mexican crisis, the European crisis, the American crises. The job crisis, the housing crisis, the banking crisis, the terror crises; seems there is no end to the crisis the world has become. Actually they all are the same, circumstances or consequences of the way we have allowed our world to become by becoming the spectator who’s only action is in- action.
George Bernard Shaw said it all when he said, “Independence? We are all dependent on one another, every soul on this earth.” What happiness is, no person can say for another. But I can surely say that no one can be truly happy who lives only for himself. If this be true as it is what are we allowing our world to become, more yet, what are we each becoming? Our world is truly a world of independent inter-dependence, something I teach and speak about often. It is truly for each independent soul upon this planet to use independence of our self while coming together as one whole not as the spectator but rather as the action oriented. Becoming involved, chasing the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” both out of the barn and off the prairie is a responsibility for us all if a secure world is to ever become a reality, if peace and love are to be the worlds reward.
Contemplating independence and its true value as well as the inter-dependence that once made America the great melting pot, that nation of people could be the beginning of the world order we so tragically seem to be loosing. People can become indifferent to what might be long-term dangers to their security. When immediate peril is not plainly visible, there is a natural tendency to relax and to return to business as usual, politics as usual, life as usual. “We The People” can come together to form a more “Perfect Union”, and a better world if the attitude of spectator becomes a people of united action. I truly feel we are interested, yes, but if our action is in-action as spectators we will be those who do not retain their liberties. Do we really want to give such a gift as independence away while living the gift of life we were given?
Allowing any individual, group, family, nation to feel entitled to do as their self-serving ideals lead them is to allow for the freedom of self to become no more than a myth of yesterday. corporatism will destroy democracy, restrict freedom, and ultimately strive to control human spirit we are. There are many who will deplore, but few willing to act, to act directly to influence action, political action especially, social action secondly, personal action firstly. Yes we each have a personal responsibility to self first, but also to our families, nation, world, and our society to bring about positive change for us all.
Action depends on conviction, and conviction depends on understanding. Action is a basic necessity of mans nature, it is our purpose. In-action becomes the apathy that leads society and self to its own destruction. First action will always be MY actions. My actions begin by the way I am thinking, which will be the words I am speaking. Yes, thought is first, how are you thinking, words will be second as this is how we communicate best. Action will be the fruit of our words. If not true to self and our world our action may bring about bad habits rather than good, leading a destiny that is anything but what we were created for.
So what is life all about, what are we here for, why is such a thin as life a part of the grand scheme of things, and more why are we even here? Could it simply be to be, to enjoy every precious moment and experience? Could it be to come together to form a more perfect union? Could it be to “do unto others as YOU would have them do unto you? Could it be to love each other as brothers and sisters, all equal in both the eyes of our creator and our selves?
In-action is what has brought our world to the world it is today. Morals and action do work well together. Robert Louis Stevenson once stated, “If your morals make you dreary, depend on it they are wrong”. If you values are making you or others suffer they too are wrong. Your priorities may find themselves compromised when your values are one day at a time. Purpose then becomes no more than brute survival, and we find ourselves alone in a world of us. What a fearful place to live, alone with so many to be with.
It is the time for action, a time for purpose to become “CHANGE”, a time for the “Golden Age of MAN and WOMAN to be. Not an age of egomaniacs, Corporatism, but and age where the mob truly does rule through a government and society by and for all the people. Not just those that by their own self-serving principles feel they are Elite, not just for those who can buy what was given to us all the day we began our journey through life. Together we are changed through action, our revolution of people who through not terror, war and suffering, but love, and a desire for true peace act to say in one great voice, “ENOUGH”…
Peace be with you, Friendship find you, Spirit knows you always…
