Seed balls – beautify your neighborhood!

There was Native American practice of making seed balls and more recently Masaharu Fukuoka endorsed this as a wonderful method of propagation. Basically, you make a mixture of mulch and seeds and kneed this into a red terra cotta clay. This is rolled out and allowed to dry. You can find instructions online, both video and written. Google “seed balls”. The balls can be tossed on the ground or put precisely where you want your plants to grow. They “awaken” when the rain comes and voila! The seeds are protected until the opportune moment arrives. There are some activist groups who are making these balls and tossing them onto vacant land and other inhospitable places.
